Filomena Tassi

Filomena Tassi is a distinguished Canadian politician, lawyer, and chaplain, known for her impactful contributions to public service. Born in 1962, she has dedicated her career to serving the people of Hamilton West—Ancaster—Dundas, a role she has held since her election to the House of Commons in 2015.

Throughout her political journey, Tassi has held several key ministerial positions. She served as the Minister of Seniors from 2018 to 2019, followed by her role as the Minister of Labour from 2019 to 2021. Her leadership continued as she took on the responsibilities of the Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Receiver General for Canada from 2021 to 2022.

In 2022, Tassi was appointed as the Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, a position she held until 2024. Her commitment to her constituents and her party, the Liberal Party, has been unwavering, although she chose not to seek re-election in 2025.
