Floor Jansen, born on February twenty-first, nineteen eighty-one, is a renowned Dutch singer and recording artist, celebrated for her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence. She first gained prominence as the lead vocalist of the symphonic metal band After Forever, which she joined at the tender age of sixteen in nineteen ninety-seven. Jansen remained with the band until its disbandment in two thousand nine, during which time she helped shape the band's sound and identity.
Following After Forever's breakup, Jansen founded the band ReVamp, releasing two albums that showcased her versatility and artistic growth. In two thousand twelve, she was invited to join the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish as a touring member after the departure of their previous lead vocalist, Anette Olzon. By two thousand thirteen, Jansen was officially announced as Nightwish's full-time lead vocalist, leading her to disband ReVamp to dedicate herself fully to the iconic band.
In addition to her work with Nightwish, Jansen has collaborated frequently with Arjen Anthony Lucassen, contributing her talents to his progressive metal supergroup Star One and appearing on several Ayreon albums, including Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer, 01011001, and The Source. Her contributions extend to the live album Ayreon Universe – The Best of Ayreon Live, as well as lead vocals on tracks from the MaYan album Quarterpast and Avalon's Angels of the Apocalypse.
Jansen's musical journey is further enriched by her familial ties; she is the older sister of singer Irene Jansen, who has also collaborated with Ayreon. In two thousand eighteen, she and Pagan's Mind guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad debuted their hard rock duo Northward, further expanding her impressive repertoire in the music industry.
