Fofi Gennimata

Fofi Gennimata, born on November seventeenth, nineteen sixty-four, was a prominent Greek politician known for her leadership within the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). She held the position of party president from two thousand fifteen until two thousand twenty-one, during which she played a pivotal role in shaping the party's direction and policies.

In addition to her leadership at PASOK, Gennimata co-founded and led two significant political alliances: the Democratic Alignment and the Movement for Change. These alliances were formed around the principles of centre-left politics, aiming to unite various factions under a common banner.

Gennimata's political lineage is notable; she was the daughter of Georgios Gennimatas, a distinguished government minister during the influential PASOK administrations of the nineteen eighties and nineties. This background undoubtedly influenced her political career and commitment to public service.

Her experience in government includes serving as a minister in the Cabinet of George Papandreou from two thousand nine to two thousand eleven. Initially, she took on the role of Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare, later transitioning to the position of Alternate Minister of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs, where she contributed to significant educational reforms.
