Francesco Canova da Milano

Francesco Canova da Milano, born on 18 August 1497 in Monza, near Milan, was a distinguished Italian lutenist and composer. His career was predominantly spent in the service of the papal court, where he gained recognition for his exceptional talent and contributions to music.

Throughout his lifetime, Francesco earned acclaim across Europe, establishing himself as the leading lute composer of his era. His compositions are notable for their intricate beauty and technical prowess, which set a standard for lutenists that would resonate for generations.
