Franceska Mann, born Franceska Manheimer-Rosenberg on February 4, 1917, was a remarkable Polish Jewish ballerina whose life was tragically cut short during the Holocaust. Known for her grace and talent, she became a symbol of resistance in one of history's darkest chapters.

While imprisoned at the Auschwitz concentration camp, Mann's courage shone through in a moment of desperation. According to various accounts, she is said to have killed a Nazi guard, Josef Schillinger, and wounded another, Wilhelm Emmerich. This act of defiance reportedly ignited an uprising among her fellow female prisoners, showcasing her indomitable spirit.

In a widely circulated but unverified narrative, Mann is described as having performed a striptease for the guards, ultimately using one of her high heels to stab Walter Quakernack in the face. This bold move allowed her to seize his firearm, which she then used to shoot Schillinger, who succumbed to his injuries hours later.
