Francis I of France

Francis I of France, born on September twelfth, fourteen ninety-four, was a monarch whose reign from fifteen fifteen to fifteen forty-seven marked a significant era in French history. As the son of Charles, Count of Angoulême, and Louise of Savoy, he ascended to the throne following the death of his first cousin once removed, Louis XII, who left no legitimate heirs.

A fervent patron of the arts, Francis played a pivotal role in the French Renaissance, attracting renowned Italian artists, including the legendary Leonardo da Vinci. It was during his reign that da Vinci brought the iconic Mona Lisa to France, a masterpiece that Francis acquired and cherished. His support for the arts not only enriched French culture but also fostered the growth of humanism and Protestantism.
