Francis Scarpaleggia

Francis Scarpaleggia, born on June sixth, nineteen fifty-seven, is a prominent Canadian politician and member of the Liberal Party. He has represented the Lac-Saint-Louis riding as a Member of Parliament since two thousand four. In twenty twenty-five, he ascended to the role of the fortieth Speaker of the House of Commons, a position that underscores his significant influence in Canadian politics.

Before taking on the responsibilities of Speaker, Scarpaleggia held various leadership roles within the House of Commons. He was the chair of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development and contributed to several other committees, including those focused on Public Safety, Canadian Heritage, Transport, and Government Operations and Estimates.
