Francisco Pizarro

Francisco Pizarro, born on March sixteenth, fourteen seventy-eight, in Trujillo, Spain, emerged from humble beginnings as the son of pig farmers. Driven by a desire for adventure and wealth, he set sail for the New World, where he would leave an indelible mark on history.

Pizarro's early exploits included joining Vasco Núñez de Balboa in the historic crossing of the Isthmus of Panama, making him one of the first Europeans to witness the Pacific Ocean from the Americas. His tenure as mayor of Panama City was followed by two unsuccessful attempts to conquer Peru, yet his determination never waned.

In fifteen twenty-nine, Pizarro secured royal approval to lead a campaign against Peru, seizing the opportunity presented by the Inca Empire's internal strife. He founded San Miguel de Piura, the first Spanish settlement in Peru, and orchestrated a strategic assault that culminated in the capture of the Inca emperor Atahualpa during the Battle of Cajamarca in November fifteen thirty-two.

Despite Atahualpa's efforts to secure his freedom by offering a room filled with gold, Pizarro executed him in July fifteen thirty-three. This pivotal moment paved the way for Pizarro's entry into the Inca capital of Cuzco later that year, solidifying his conquest of Peru. In January fifteen thirty-five, he established the city of Lima, further entrenching Spanish influence in the region.

However, Pizarro's quest for power ultimately led to his downfall. In fifteen forty-one, he became a victim of political intrigue and was assassinated, marking the end of a tumultuous and impactful life.
