François Mazet

François Mazet, born on February twenty-fourth, nineteen forty-three, is a notable figure in the world of motorsport, recognized for his brief yet impactful career as a racing driver from France. His foray into Formula One was limited to a single Grand Prix, where he finished thirteenth, ultimately not scoring any championship points. Despite this, his journey in racing is marked by significant achievements.

In nineteen sixty-nine, Mazet clinched the French Formula Three Championship driving a Tecno, showcasing his talent and determination. The following year, he transitioned to Formula Two with the Sports Motor team, partnering with Tim Schenken. However, this move did not yield the success he had hoped for. With sponsorship from Shell Petroleum, he had the opportunity to race Jo Siffert's F2 Chevron during Siffert's absence, as well as participating in touring car events for Ford Germany.

His connection with Siffert led to a notable moment in his career when he drove the March 701 at the Paul Ricard circuit during the nineteen seventy-one French Grand Prix. This race marked his only attempt in Formula One, encapsulating a brief yet memorable chapter in his racing history.

After retiring from competitive racing, Mazet shifted his focus to the business side of motorsport, playing a role in the sponsorship of Lotus by Essex Petroleum during the nineteen eighties. Today, he has embraced a quieter life, cultivating lemons in an orchard in Menton, where he frequently makes press appearances to promote this delightful fruit.
