François Méthot, born on April 26, 1978, in Montreal, Quebec, is a distinguished Canadian ice hockey coach and former player. He currently serves as the head coach of the Rochester Jr. Americans in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he imparts his extensive knowledge and experience to the next generation of players.
Drafted by the Buffalo Sabres as their third pick, fifty-fourth overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Méthot's professional journey began with high expectations. However, his time in the NHL was limited to exhibition games, leading him to focus on a successful career in the American Hockey League (AHL). He played five seasons with the Rochester Americans and one season with the Portland Pirates, showcasing his skills and determination on the ice.
Seeking new challenges, Méthot transitioned to European hockey, where he played for several teams in Germany. His tenure included one season each with the Augsburger Panther and the Nürnberg Ice Tigers, before making a significant impact with the Mannheim team. After five successful seasons in Mannheim, he signed a one-year contract with the Krefeld Pinguine on May 24, 2011, continuing to contribute to the sport he loves.
