Frang Bardhi

Frang Bardhi, born in the year sixteen hundred and six, was a prominent figure in the Renaissance period, known for his multifaceted contributions as a writer, historian, and Catholic priest. His literary works are celebrated as some of the earliest examples of Albanian literature, marking a significant chapter in the cultural history of Albania.

As a dedicated Catholic bishop, Bardhi served the diocese of Sapë from the year sixteen thirty-five until sixteen forty-four. His role as a bishop not only involved spiritual leadership but also a commitment to education and the promotion of the Albanian language through his writings.

In addition to his ecclesiastical duties, Bardhi was a pioneering author of dictionaries, which played a crucial role in the development of the Albanian language.
