Frank Davey

Frank Davey, a distinguished Canadian poet and scholar, was born on April nineteenth, nineteen forty in Vancouver, British Columbia. His formative years were spent in the quaint village of Abbotsford in the Fraser Valley, where his passion for literature began to flourish.

In nineteen fifty-seven, he embarked on his academic journey at the University of British Columbia. By nineteen sixty-one, he had become a founding editor of the influential poetry newsletter TISH, which played a pivotal role in shaping the Canadian literary landscape. His talent was recognized in the spring of nineteen sixty-two when he won the university's Macmillan Prize for poetry, shortly after publishing his first collection, D-Day and After.

Davey's career in academia took off in nineteen sixty-three when he began teaching at the Canadian Services College Royal Roads Military College in Victoria. He pursued doctoral studies at the University of Southern California, completing his degree in nineteen sixty-eight. Following a tenure as writer-in-residence at Montreal's Sir George Williams University, he joined the English Department at York University in Toronto in nineteen seventy, eventually becoming department chair in nineteen eighty-six.

In nineteen ninety, he was appointed to the prestigious Carl F. Klinck Chair of Canadian Literature at the University of Western Ontario in London. Throughout his career, he was also a prominent editor at Coach House Press from nineteen seventy-five to nineteen ninety-two. Today, Frank Davey resides in Strathroy, Ontario, continuing to contribute to the literary world.
