Frank Shu

Frank Shu, born on June second, nineteen forty-three, is a distinguished Chinese-American astrophysicist and astronomer. His academic journey led him to become a Professor Emeritus at both the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, San Diego, where he has made significant contributions to the field of astrophysics.

Shu is renowned for his groundbreaking work in proposing the density wave theory, which provides a compelling explanation for the structure of spiral galaxies. This theory has been pivotal in enhancing our understanding of galactic dynamics and the formation of cosmic structures.
