Frankie Lymon

Frankie Lymon, born on September thirtieth, nineteen forty-two, was a remarkable American singer, songwriter, and composer who left an indelible mark on the music scene. He is best remembered as the boy soprano lead singer of the iconic doo-wop group, the Teenagers, which emerged from New York City in the early days of rock and roll.

The Teenagers, an integrated ensemble of five boys in their early to mid-teens, featured Lymon alongside fellow members Jimmy Merchant, Sherman Garnes, Joe Negroni, and Herman Santiago. Their debut single, 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love,' released in nineteen fifty-six, became a massive hit and remains a classic to this day.

After Lymon embarked on a solo career in mid-nineteen fifty-seven, both his personal trajectory and that of the Teenagers began to decline. Despite his early success, Lymon's life was tragically cut short when he was found dead in nineteen sixty-eight at the young age of twenty-five due to a heroin overdose.

In recognition of his contributions to music, Frankie Lymon was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in nineteen ninety-three as a member of the Teenagers. His life and legacy were further immortalized in the 1998 film 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love,' which dramatized his extraordinary yet tumultuous journey.
