Franklin Chang-Díaz

Franklin Chang-Díaz, born on April fifth, nineteen fifty, in Costa Rica, is a distinguished mechanical engineer, physicist, and former NASA astronaut. He became a U.S. citizen in nineteen seventy-seven, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey that would see him become a pioneer in space exploration.

As the sole founder and CEO of Ad Astra Rocket Company, Chang-Díaz has been at the forefront of innovative propulsion technologies. His expertise and leadership extend beyond his company, as he also serves on the board of directors for Cummins, contributing to advancements in engineering and technology.

Chang-Díaz is celebrated for his impressive record as a veteran of seven Space Shuttle missions, a feat that ties him for the most spaceflights as of twenty twenty-one. He holds the distinction of being the third Latin American and the first Latin American immigrant selected by NASA to venture into space, a testament to his groundbreaking achievements.
