Fred West, born on September twenty-ninth, nineteen forty-one, was an English serial killer and construction worker whose heinous acts shocked the nation. He is infamously known for committing at least twelve murders between nineteen sixty-seven and nineteen eighty-seven in Gloucestershire, England, often alongside his second wife, Rose West. The couple's crimes were marked by extreme brutality, including rape, bondage, torture, and mutilation.
The victims of Fred and Rose West were predominantly girls and young women, with their dismembered bodies typically buried in the cellar or garden of their residence in Gloucester, which became infamously known as the 'House of Horrors.' While many of the murders were committed together, Fred is known to have acted alone in at least two cases, and Rose was responsible for the murder of Fred's stepdaughter, Charmaine.
In nineteen ninety-four, the couple was arrested and charged with multiple murders. Tragically, Fred West took his own life by asphyxiation while in custody at HM Prison Birmingham on January first, nineteen ninety-five. At the time of his death, he faced charges for nine murders alongside Rose, who was later convicted of ten murders in November nineteen ninety-five and sentenced to ten life terms with a whole life order.
