His journey in motorsport began in nineteen ninety-six when he founded ASM, leading the team to numerous national and continental Formula Three championships. In two thousand four, he partnered with Nicolas Todt to establish ART Grand Prix, where they celebrated back-to-back victories in the GP2 Series with notable drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton in two thousand five and two thousand six, respectively.

Vasseur's career took a pivotal turn in two thousand sixteen when he became the first team principal of Renault upon their return to Formula One. After a brief tenure, he joined Sauber in two thousand seventeen, where he spent six seasons, later known as Alfa Romeo.
