Frederick Moloney

Frederick Moloney, born on August fourth, eighteen eighty-two, was a prominent American athlete who made his mark in the early twentieth century. He specialized in the challenging discipline of the 110 metre hurdles, showcasing his exceptional talent at the 1900 Summer Olympics held in Paris.

At these historic Games, Moloney earned a bronze medal with an impressive time of fifteen point six seconds, narrowly missing silver, which was claimed by John McLean at fifteen point five seconds. His performance in the hurdles solidified his status as a formidable competitor in athletics.

In addition to his success in the hurdles, Moloney also participated in the 100 metres event. He faced tough competition, finishing second in his first-round heat and third in the semifinal. Ultimately, he placed between seventh and ninth overall in the repechage, demonstrating his versatility as an athlete.

Moloney's journey in the 200 metre hurdles was similarly challenging, as he finished third in his semifinal heat and did not advance to the final. Notably, his brother William also competed in the same Olympics, highlighting a family legacy in athletics.
