Frederick of Naples

Frederick of Naples, born on October sixteenth, fourteen fifty-one, was a prominent sovereign and the last King of Naples from the Neapolitan branch of the House of Trastámara. His reign lasted from fourteen ninety-six until fourteen hundred one, marking a significant period in the history of the region.

As the second son of Ferdinand I and the younger brother of Alfonso II, Frederick was intricately linked to the royal lineage. He was also the uncle of Ferdinand II, who succeeded him. His rule was characterized by the ongoing power struggles in Italy, particularly involving claims from France and Spain.

The political landscape shifted dramatically in fourteen hundred one when Frederick was deposed by a coalition led by King Louis XII of France and his cousin, King Ferdinand II of Aragon. Initially, Naples fell under French control, but by fourteen hundred four, the dynamics changed again, leading to its incorporation into Spanish territories.
