Friaça

Albino Friaça Cardoso, known simply as Friaça, was born on October 20, 1924, in Porciúncula, Brazil. He emerged as a prominent football striker during his career, which spanned from nineteen forty-four to nineteen fifty-five. Friaça played for several notable clubs, including Vasco da Gama, São Paulo, and Ponte Preta, where he left an indelible mark on Brazilian football.

Throughout his illustrious career, Friaça achieved significant success, winning two Rio de Janeiro State Tournaments in nineteen forty-seven and nineteen fifty-two. He also claimed victory in the São Paulo State Tournament in nineteen forty-nine, where he distinguished himself as the top goalscorer. His prowess on the field was further highlighted by his contribution to the South American Championship of Champions in nineteen forty-eight.

Friaça's talents extended to the international stage, where he represented the Brazil national team. He was part of the squad that won the Copa América in nineteen forty-nine and played a crucial role in the nineteen fifty FIFA World Cup. In the decisive match against Uruguay, he scored the opening goal, although Brazil ultimately lost the match two to one.

After a life dedicated to football, Friaça passed away on January 12, 2009, in Itaperuna, at the age of eighty-four. His death was attributed to pneumonia-related organ failure, marking the end of an era for a beloved figure in Brazilian sports.
