Friedrich von Ingenohl, born on June thirtieth, eighteen fifty-seven, was a distinguished German admiral hailing from Neuwied. He is best remembered for his leadership of the German High Seas Fleet at the onset of World War I. The son of a tradesman, Ingenohl embarked on his naval career around eighteen seventy-four, dedicating many years to service in the Far East.

His early command of the gunboat Iltis from eighteen ninety-four to eighteen ninety-six allowed him to witness the First Sino-Japanese War in eighteen ninety-five. Following this, he transitioned to the Admiralty in Berlin in eighteen ninety-seven and took command of the Kaiser's yacht Hohenzollern in nineteen oh four.
