Frigyes Karinthy

Frigyes Karinthy, born on June twenty-fifth, eighteen eighty-seven, was a multifaceted Hungarian author whose talents spanned across various literary forms including poetry, journalism, and playwriting. He is celebrated not only for his literary contributions but also for his pioneering ideas, notably the concept of six degrees of separation, which he introduced in his 1929 short story, 'Chains' (Láncszemek).

Karinthy's works have left a lasting impact on Hungarian literature, making him one of the most beloved writers in the country. His family legacy includes his sister, the artist Ada Karinthy, and his sons, Gábor and Ferenc Karinthy, both of whom followed in his literary footsteps.

Among his notable contributions to literature are two science fiction novellas that extend the adventures of Jonathan Swift's character, Gulliver. 'Voyage to Faremido' explores themes of artificial intelligence with a pacifist perspective, while 'Capillaria' offers a darkly humorous satire on the complexities of gender relations.
