Fujiwara no Koretada

Fujiwara no Koretada, also known as Ichijō Sesshō, was a prominent figure in the Heian period of Japan, born in the year nine hundred twenty-four. Renowned for his contributions as a statesman, courtier, and politician, he left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of his time.

In addition to his political prowess, Koretada was a gifted waka-poet. His literary works were celebrated and included in esteemed collections such as 'The Collected Poems of the First Ward Regent' and the renowned 'Hyakunin Isshu', where his poem is notably featured as poem number forty-five.

Koretada was not only recognized for his intellect and charm but also for his striking appearance and vibrant personality. His reputation as a handsome and wise individual contributed to his legacy, earning him the honorific title of Kentoku-kō.

He passed away on the ninth of December in the year nine hundred seventy-two, leaving behind a rich heritage of poetry and political influence that continues to be appreciated in Japanese history.
