In nineteen forty-four, Okhlopkov was nominated for the prestigious title of Hero of the Soviet Union after achieving his first four hundred twenty sniper kills. However, for reasons that remain unclear, this nomination was not granted at the time. It wasn't until May nineteen sixty-five, over two decades later, that he was belatedly awarded the title, coinciding with the anniversary of Victory Day.
