G. Malcolm Brown

G. Malcolm Brown, born on July sixteenth, nineteen sixteen, in Campbellford, Ontario, was a distinguished Canadian physician whose contributions to medicine have left a lasting legacy. He pursued his education at Queen's University and furthered his studies at Oxford University, laying a strong foundation for his future career.

During World War II, Brown served with honor in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in Europe, where he gained invaluable experience that would shape his medical practice. After the war, he returned to academia and became a professor of medicine at Queen's University, a position he held from nineteen fifty-one to nineteen sixty-five.

Brown's leadership extended beyond the classroom; he served as president of the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons from nineteen fifty-six to nineteen fifty-eight and later as president of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada from nineteen sixty-two to nineteen sixty-four. His commitment to advancing medical research was evident during his tenure as a committee member of the Medical Research Council of Canada from nineteen fifty-three to nineteen sixty-five, culminating in his role as its first full-time president from nineteen sixty-five to nineteen seventy-seven.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the field, Brown was inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in two thousand. To honor his memory and continue his legacy, the G. Malcolm Brown Memorial Fund was established to promote health science research in Canada.
