Gábor Király

Gábor Király, born on April 1, 1976, is a distinguished Hungarian former professional footballer renowned for his role as a goalkeeper. Over a remarkable twenty-five-year career, Király made significant contributions to clubs primarily in Germany and England, showcasing his skills and dedication on the pitch.

His professional journey began with Hertha BSC in 1997, where he made an impressive one hundred ninety-eight appearances. Király later played for 1860 Munich, further solidifying his reputation in German football. His time in England saw him represent notable clubs such as Crystal Palace, Burnley, and Fulham, alongside loan spells with West Ham United and Aston Villa. In 2015, he returned to his roots by rejoining his hometown team, Haladás.

On the international stage, Király made his debut for the Hungary national team in 1998 against Austria, eventually earning a record one hundred eight caps. He proudly represented Hungary at UEFA Euro 2016, where he made history on June 14, 2016, by becoming the oldest player to compete in a UEFA European Championship at the age of forty years and seventy-four days. This record was later extended to forty years and eighty-six days on June 26, 2016, before he retired from international football after the tournament.
