Gae Aulenti

Gae Aulenti, born on December fourth, nineteen twenty-seven, was a pioneering Italian architect and designer who made significant contributions to the fields of architecture, interior design, and scenography. She began her career in the early nineteen fifties, establishing herself as one of the few prominent female architects in post-war Italy, a time when the architectural landscape was predominantly male-dominated.

Stepping away from the prevailing modernist style, Aulenti embraced neo-liberty, an architectural philosophy that emphasized the importance of tradition and artistic freedom within a modern context. This unique approach allowed her to create works that were not only functional but also rich in cultural significance.
