Gangubai Hangal

Gangubai Hangal, born on March fifth, nineteen thirteen, was a distinguished Indian singer renowned for her contributions to the khayal genre of Hindustani classical music. Hailing from Karnataka, she captivated audiences with her deep and powerful voice, which became her signature throughout her illustrious career.

As a prominent figure in the Kirana gharana, Hangal's musical prowess was widely recognized and celebrated. Her dedication to her craft and her ability to convey emotion through her performances set her apart in the world of classical music.

In recognition of her exceptional talent and contributions to the arts, Gangubai Hangal was honored with the Padma Vibhushan in two thousand two, India's second highest civilian award. Additionally, she received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship in nineteen ninety-six, the highest accolade from India's National Academy for Music and Performing Arts.
