Garnet Ault

Garnet Ault, born on November first, nineteen oh five, was a distinguished Canadian swimmer who made his mark in the world of competitive swimming. He showcased his talent at the 1928 Summer Olympics held in Amsterdam, where he participated in the 4×200-metre relay, the 400-metre, and the 1500-metre freestyle events. Ault's remarkable performance earned him a bronze medal in the relay, while he finished sixth in the 1500-metre final and did not progress beyond the preliminary heats in the 400-metre event. That same year, he set a Canadian record in the mile with an impressive time of twenty-three minutes and thirty-six point six seconds.

After his swimming career, Ault pursued higher education and graduated from the University of Michigan in nineteen thirty with a medical degree. He specialized in proctology and became a member of the American Proctologic Society in nineteen thirty-seven. The following year, he took on the role of surgery professor at Georgetown University while establishing his own practice in Washington, D.C.

Ault's contributions to the field of medicine were significant. He served as president of the American Proctologic Society from nineteen sixty-four to nineteen sixty-five and held the position of vice-president of the American Board of Colorectal Surgery during nineteen sixty-two and nineteen sixty-three. Additionally, he was the chief of proctology at the Washington Hospital Center.

In nineteen seventy-four, Ault retired and relocated to Florida before eventually moving back to Michigan. He lived a long life, passing away at the age of eighty-seven due to a heart attack, leaving behind a legacy in both sports and medicine.
