Garrick Ohlsson

Garrick Ohlsson, born on April third, nineteen forty-eight, is a distinguished American classical pianist and composer. His remarkable talent was first recognized on the international stage in nineteen seventy when he became the first American to win the prestigious gold medal at the International Chopin Piano Competition, held in its eighth iteration.

Ohlsson's accolades extend beyond this landmark achievement; he also secured first prizes at the Busoni Competition in Bolzano, Italy, and the Montreal Piano Competition in Canada. His contributions to music have been recognized with the Avery Fisher Prize in nineteen ninety-four and the University Musical Society Distinguished Artist Award in nineteen ninety-eight, awarded in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
