Gary Peacock

Gary Peacock, born on May twelfth, nineteen thirty-five, was a distinguished American jazz double bassist whose contributions to the genre are celebrated and revered. His career spanned decades, during which he not only recorded a dozen albums under his own name but also collaborated with some of the most significant figures in jazz history.

Peacock's musical journey included performances and recordings with avant-garde saxophonist Albert Ayler, as well as renowned pianists such as Bill Evans, Paul Bley, and Marilyn Crispell. His versatility and artistry were further showcased as a member of Keith Jarrett’s acclaimed “Standards Trio,” alongside drummer Jack DeJohnette. This trio enjoyed a remarkable existence of over thirty years, during which they produced more than twenty albums, solidifying their place in jazz history.
