Gaudencio Rosales

Gaudencio Borbón Rosales, affectionately known as Lolo Dency, was born on August 7, 1932. He is a distinguished Filipino Catholic prelate who made significant contributions to the Church, particularly during his tenure as Archbishop of Manila from 2003 to 2011. His leadership was marked by a commitment to pastoral care and community engagement, making him a beloved figure among the faithful.

In 2006, Rosales was elevated to the rank of cardinal, becoming the fourth native Filipino to hold this prestigious position. His appointment was a testament to his dedication and service within the Catholic Church, and he played a vital role in various ecclesiastical matters during his time in office.

In addition to his responsibilities as Archbishop, Rosales served as the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Pasig from December 21, 2010, until June 23, 2011. This role came after the resignation of Pasig's first bishop, Francisco San Diego, showcasing Rosales' willingness to step in during times of transition.

Notably, Gaudencio Rosales is recognized as the longest-lived Filipino cardinal, having surpassed the age of Cardinal Jose Tomas Sanchez. His enduring presence in the Church continues to inspire many, reflecting a life dedicated to faith and service.
