Gaykhatu

Gaykhatu, born in the year 1259, was a prominent sovereign of the Ilkhanate, a historical realm in Iran. His reign spanned from 1291 to 1295, marking a significant period in the region's history.

As the fifth ruler of the Ilkhanate, Gaykhatu's leadership was characterized by a blend of cultural influences, notably from Buddhism. His Buddhist baghshi, a spiritual advisor, conferred upon him the Tibetan name Rinchendorje, which translates to 'Jewel Diamond' in Classical Tibetan. This name not only reflected his spiritual connections but also appeared on the currency he issued during his reign.
