Gelete Burka, born on January twenty-third, nineteen eighty-six, is a distinguished Ethiopian middle-distance and long-distance runner hailing from Kofele in the Arsi Zone of the Oromia Region. This region is notable for producing exceptional athletes, including the legendary double Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie.

Burka's athletic prowess was showcased on the global stage when she became the short course champion at the 2006 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. Her remarkable talent earned her three medals at the IAAF World Indoor Championships, with her crowning achievement being a gold medal in the 1500 meters in two thousand eight.

Throughout her career, she has represented Ethiopia at the World Championships in Athletics from two thousand five to two thousand eleven and competed in the Olympics in both two thousand eight and two thousand twelve.
