Gemma Mengual

Gemma Mengual, born on May twelfth, nineteen seventy-seven, is a celebrated Spanish synchronized swimmer who has made a significant mark in the world of aquatic sports. Competing in the Summer Olympics of two thousand, two thousand four, and two thousand eight, she showcased her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport on the international stage.

After an illustrious career, Mengual announced her retirement on February fifteenth, two thousand twelve. However, her passion for synchronized swimming did not wane. She took on the role of coach for the national synchronized swimming team, nurturing the next generation of athletes.

In a surprising turn, Mengual returned to competitive swimming in June two thousand fifteen, aiming to participate in the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia. Partnering with Pau Ribas, whom she had previously coached, she demonstrated her commitment to the sport. Although she initially planned to retire after the World Championships, she later confirmed her participation in the duet event at the two thousand sixteen Summer Olympics alongside Ona Carbonell.

During the two thousand twenty Olympic Games, which were held in twenty twenty-one due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mengual lent her expertise to the broadcast team, providing technical insights and expert opinions on the swimming-pool and floor events, further solidifying her legacy in the sport.
