Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Gene Harris

Gene Harris, born on September first, nineteen thirty-three, was a celebrated American jazz pianist whose artistry was characterized by a warm sound and a distinctive blend of blues and gospel influences, often referred to as soul jazz.

From nineteen fifty-six to nineteen seventy, Harris was a key member of The Three Sounds trio, alongside bassist Andy Simpkins and drummer Bill Dowdy. During this fruitful period, the trio recorded extensively for renowned labels such as Blue Note and Verve Records, solidifying their place in the jazz scene.

In the late nineteen seventies, Harris retired to Boise but continued to share his musical talents at the Idanha Hotel. His passion for performance was reignited in the early nineteen eighties, thanks to the encouragement of double-bassist Ray Brown, leading him to tour with the Ray Brown Trio and eventually to lead his own groups. His later recordings were primarily released through Concord Records.

Gene Harris's legacy is further enriched by his family, as he is the father of singer Niki Haris. He continued to perform until his passing in two thousand, due to kidney failure, leaving behind a rich musical heritage.
