Georcy-Stéphanie Picard

Georcy-Stéphanie Picard, born on February eighth, nineteen ninety-one, is a distinguished Canadian archer hailing from Montreal, Quebec. Her journey into the world of archery began at the tender age of eight during a summer camp, where she was inspired to represent Canada after watching the Olympic archery events from Athens in two thousand four. This early passion propelled her to compete in numerous local and regional tournaments across Canada.

Picard made her debut on the Canadian national team at the age of seventeen during the two thousand eight World Youth Championships in Antalya, Turkey, where she impressively secured the eighteenth position in the individual recurve category. Following her participation in two more youth championships in two thousand nine and two thousand eleven, she transitioned to the senior national team, competing for the first time at the two thousand thirteen World Championships, held in the same venue as her youth debut.

Her notable performance at the two thousand fifteen Pan American Games in Toronto showcased her skills, as she achieved top-ten finishes in both individual and team recurve events. This success paved the way for her Olympic journey, where she earned a bronze medal at the two thousand sixteen American Continental Qualifying Tournament in Medellín, Colombia, securing a coveted spot for the Rio de Janeiro Games.

At the two thousand sixteen Summer Olympics, Picard represented Canada as the sole female archer, competing in the individual recurve tournament. Despite facing a challenging match against the world-ranked archer Tan Ya-ting from Chinese Taipei, she demonstrated resilience and determination. With a score of five hundred eighty-five points, including ten perfect tens, she concluded her Olympic journey in the first round.
