Georg von Hertling

Georg von Hertling, born on August thirty-first, eighteen forty-three, was a prominent German politician and a respected professor of philosophy. His career was marked by his affiliation with the Catholic Centre Party, where he emerged as a significant figure in the political landscape of Germany during a tumultuous period.

Hertling held several key positions, including foreign minister and minister president of Bavaria. His most notable role came when he served as the imperial chancellor of the German Reich and minister president of Prussia from November first, nineteen seventeen, to September thirtieth, nineteen eighteen. Uniquely, he was the first party politician to occupy these high offices, breaking the tradition held by his predecessors, who were primarily career civil servants or military leaders.
