George Cadle Price

George Cadle Price, born on January fifteenth, nineteen nineteen, was a prominent Belizean statesman who played a pivotal role in the country's journey towards independence. His political career began in nineteen forty-seven when he was elected to the Belize City Council, marking the start of a lifelong commitment to public service and governance.

In nineteen forty-nine, following the devaluation of the British Honduran dollar, Price, alongside a group of dedicated citizens, established the People's Committee. This initiative was a significant step in what would become known as the 'peaceful, constructive Belizean revolution.' His vision for a self-governing Belize took a concrete form when he co-founded the People's United Party on September twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty, which he would lead for four decades.

Price's influence in Belizean politics was profound, as he served as the head of government from nineteen sixty-one to nineteen eighty-four and again from nineteen eighty-nine to nineteen ninety-three. He was the first minister and premier under British rule and became the nation's first prime minister following independence in nineteen eighty-one.
