George Green Foster

George Green Foster, born on January twenty-first, eighteen sixty, in Knowlton, Canada East, was a prominent Canadian lawyer and politician. He was the son of Samuel E. Foster and Ellen Green, and his early education took place at Knowlton Academy before he pursued higher studies at McGill University, where he earned his Bachelor of Civil Law in eighteen eighty-one.

After being called to the Quebec bar in the same year, Foster quickly established himself in the legal community and was honored with the title of Queen's Counsel in eighteen ninety-six. His legacy extended beyond his professional achievements; his son, George Buchanan Foster, became a celebrated flying ace during World War I.

In the political arena, Foster represented the Conservative Party as a candidate in the Brome riding during the federal election of eighteen ninety-six, although he faced defeat against the Liberal candidate, Sydney A. Fisher. His political career took a significant turn in nineteen seventeen when he was appointed to the Senate of Canada on the recommendation of Conservative Prime Minister Sir Robert Borden, a position he held until his passing in nineteen thirty-one.
