George Jung

George Jacob Jung, born on August 6, 1942, was a notorious American drug trafficker and smuggler, widely recognized for his significant role in the cocaine trade during the 1970s and early 1980s. Known by the nicknames Boston George and El Americano, Jung became a prominent figure in the illicit drug world, particularly through his connections with the Colombian Medellín Cartel.

In partnership with Carlos Lehder, Jung was instrumental in smuggling vast quantities of cocaine into the United States, contributing to the explosive growth of the drug market during that era. His operations were marked by both ambition and risk, ultimately leading to his arrest and a lengthy prison sentence.

In 1994, Jung was sentenced to sixty years in prison on conspiracy charges, a reflection of the serious nature of his criminal activities. However, after serving time, he was released in 2014, having spent nearly two decades behind bars.

Jung's life and exploits were later immortalized in popular culture when he was portrayed by Johnny Depp in the biopic 'Blow' released in two thousand one. This film brought further attention to his story, highlighting the complexities of his life as a drug trafficker.
