George Müller

George Müller, born on September 27, 1805, was a prominent Christian evangelist and a dedicated missionary whose life was marked by his unwavering commitment to the welfare of orphans. He is best known for his role as the director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England, where he provided a safe haven for thousands of children in need.

Throughout his lifetime, Müller cared for over ten thousand orphans, ensuring they received not only shelter but also educational opportunities. His efforts were so impactful that he faced criticism for allegedly elevating the poor above their perceived social status in British society. Nevertheless, his work transformed the lives of many, providing them with hope and a brighter future.

In addition to his work with orphans, Müller was a key figure in the founding of the Plymouth Brethren movement. Following a split within the group, his faction became known as the Open Brethren. His influence extended beyond the orphanage as he established one hundred seventeen schools, which offered Christian education to more than one hundred twenty thousand individuals, further solidifying his legacy as a champion for the underprivileged.
