George Reiffenstein

George Reiffenstein, born on March seventeenth, eighteen eighty-three, was a distinguished Canadian rower hailing from Carleton County, Ontario. His athletic prowess was showcased during the 1904 Summer Olympics, where he represented Canada in the men's eight event.

In a fiercely competitive atmosphere, George and his team secured the silver medal, a remarkable achievement considering only two teams participated in the event. This accomplishment marked a significant moment in his rowing career, highlighting his dedication and skill in the sport.

Following World War I, George made a personal decision to change his last name to Carr, a move that reflected the changes many experienced during that tumultuous period. He continued to live in Ontario until his passing in Whitby in nineteen thirty-two, leaving behind a legacy in Canadian rowing.
