George W. Norris

George W. Norris, born on July eleventh, eighteen sixty-one, was a prominent American politician, judge, and lawyer hailing from Nebraska. His political career began in the United States House of Representatives, where he served as a Republican from nineteen oh three to nineteen thirteen. He then transitioned to the United States Senate, representing Nebraska from nineteen thirteen until nineteen forty-three. In nineteen thirty-six, Norris made the significant decision to become an Independent, reflecting his progressive ideals and commitment to reform.

Throughout his tenure, Norris was a staunch advocate for progressive and liberal causes. He is perhaps best remembered for his pivotal role in the establishment of the Tennessee Valley Authority in nineteen thirty-three, an initiative that provided electricity to impoverished rural areas and constructed essential dams for flood control in the Southeastern United States.
