Georges Florovsky

Georges Florovsky was a prominent Russian Orthodox priest, theologian, and historian, born on August 28, 1893, in the Russian Empire. His intellectual journey led him to become one of the most influential Eastern Orthodox Christian theologians of the mid-20th century, alongside notable figures such as Sergei Bulgakov, Vladimir Lossky, Justin Popović, and Dumitru Stăniloae.

Florovsky dedicated a significant portion of his life to academia, spending nearly three decades in Paris from 1920 to 1949, before relocating to New York, where he continued his work until 1979. His scholarly pursuits were deeply rooted in the rich intellectual traditions of the early Church, and he was particularly concerned with the relevance of patristic thought in contemporary Christian theology.
