Georgina Bardach

Georgina Bardach, born on August 18, 1983, is a distinguished swimmer from Argentina, renowned for her remarkable achievements in competitive swimming. Her journey in the sport began to gain international recognition at the 2002 FINA Short Course World Championships held in Moscow, where she secured a commendable third place in the 400 m Individual Medley.

In 2003, Bardach showcased her exceptional talent by winning a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, further solidifying her status as a top athlete. The pinnacle of her career came during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she earned a bronze medal in the Women's 400 m Individual Medley with an impressive time of 4:37.51.

Throughout her career, Georgina represented Argentina in multiple Olympic Games, including Sydney in 2000, Beijing in 2008, and London in 2012, although she faced challenges in advancing beyond the preliminary heats in those events. Her prowess was also evident at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, where she added another bronze medal to her accolades.

In a remarkable feat, Bardach broke the South American record for the 200 meters backstroke at the Brazilian Swimming Championship in May 2006, clocking in at 2:17.033 seconds, surpassing Fabíola Molina's long-standing record from 1997.
