Geovani Silva

Geovani Faria da Silva, born on April 6, 1964, is a distinguished Brazilian former footballer known for his exceptional skills as a midfielder. He embarked on his football journey at the tender age of sixteen with Desportiva Ferroviária, where his talent began to shine.

In 1983, Geovani made a significant move to Vasco da Gama, a club where he gained prominence playing alongside legendary figures such as Romário and Roberto Dinamite. His remarkable performance at the 1983 FIFA World Youth Championship, where he emerged as the top scorer and was named the tournament's best player, solidified his reputation. Notably, he scored the decisive goal in the final, leading Brazil to a one-nil victory over Argentina.

Geovani's international career was equally impressive, earning twenty-four senior caps for Brazil between May 1985 and September 1991. He captained the national team at the 1988 Summer Olympics, securing a silver medal, and was part of the victorious squad in the 1989 Copa América.

His European adventure took him to Bologna F.C. 1909 and Karlsruher SC from nineteen eighty-nine to nineteen ninety-one before returning to Vasco da Gama. Throughout the remainder of his career, he played for various Brazilian clubs, including a brief period at Tigres UANL in Mexico, ultimately concluding his playing days in two thousand two.

Transitioning from player to politician, Geovani was elected as State Deputy for Espírito Santo in two thousand six, showcasing his commitment to serving his community beyond the football field.
