Gerry Connolly

Gerry Connolly, born on March 30, 1950, was a prominent American politician and business executive who dedicated his life to public service. He represented Virginia's 11th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 until his untimely death in 2025. A member of the Democratic Party, Connolly first entered Congress in 2008, succeeding retiring Republican incumbent Tom Davis, who chose not to seek re-election.

The 11th district, located in the suburbs of Northern Virginia, is primarily anchored in the affluent Fairfax County. Before his congressional career, Connolly made significant contributions as a member of the county's board of supervisors, where he gained a reputation for his commitment to the community and effective governance.

In April 2025, Connolly announced that he would not pursue re-election in 2026 due to health concerns. Tragically, he passed away on May 21, 2025, after battling esophageal cancer, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to his constituents.
