Gerry McNamara

Gerry McNamara, born on August twenty-eighth, nineteen eighty-three, is a distinguished American former basketball player and the current head coach for Syracuse University. His journey in basketball began as a guard for the Syracuse Orange, where he made an indelible mark by never missing a start during his collegiate career from two thousand two to two thousand six. McNamara played a pivotal role in leading the team to victory in the two thousand three national championship.

After completing his education at Syracuse, McNamara transitioned to professional basketball, showcasing his skills with teams such as Panionios BC, Olympiacos BC, the Bakersfield Jam, BK Ventspils, and the Reno Bighorns. His professional career spanned several years, during which he honed his craft and gained invaluable experience on the court.

In two thousand nine, McNamara announced his retirement from professional play and returned to Syracuse, this time as a graduate student and assistant coach. His dedication to the program and his deep understanding of the game paved the way for his eventual promotion to associate head coach.

In twenty twenty-four, McNamara took on the role of head coach at Siena, where he led the team until twenty twenty-six. Following this tenure, he returned to Syracuse as head coach at the beginning of the twenty twenty-six offseason, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for the game back to his alma mater.
