Gervais Ndirakobuca

Gervais Ndirakobuca, born in 1970, is a prominent Burundian politician who has made significant contributions to the country's political landscape. He currently serves as the President of the Senate of Burundi, a position he has held since 5 August 2025. His political journey has been marked by various key roles, including his tenure as Prime Minister from 7 September 2022 to 5 August 2025.

Before ascending to the role of Prime Minister, Ndirakobuca was the Minister of Interior, Public Security, and Community Development. His leadership in these positions has been characterized by a focus on security and governance, although it has not been without controversy.

Notably, Ndirakobuca is known for his aggressive response to the civil protests in Burundi in 2015, which drew international scrutiny and led to sanctions from the United States and the European Union due to human rights violations. Despite this, he was appointed as security minister by President Évariste Ndayishimiye, reflecting his continued influence in Burundian politics.
